Stephen has held senior positions within academia, as well as the public and private sectors, which gives him a wealth of experience to draw upon. His approach engenders pragmatism, and he is focused on implementing technological resources that enable businesses to work.

In addition to academic awards including BSc, MPhil a PhD in Computer Science, Stephen is a FBCS, CEng and CITP. His specialisms include technology governance, technical architecture and shared service centres. Stephen worked as an IT Director for a Big 4 chartered accountancy firm for nine years, and now works as an independent Information Technology and Services Consultant. Achievements throughout his career to date include:

  • Working as an independent Consultant, providing advice to a variety of clients on effective management, business technology, the impact of globalisation and outsourcing and the importance of change management programs.
  • Taking responsibility for overseeing IT effectiveness within a Big 4 firm and ensuring return on investment, including the effects of globalisations on the practice.
  • Acting as a major contributor to the foundation of a shared service centre within the company.
  • Working as Technical Director for Computer and Management Consultants where he acted at a Senior Project/Bid Manager, operating to effect successful project conclusion.
  • Rising to the role of Head of Business & Marketing at the University of Portsmouth, after joining as an academic lecturing at undergraduate and postgraduate level.
