Ian H: Interim IT Director, Public/Private Sector Experience

Ian H is a highly successful hands-on Interim IT Director and trouble shooter with a significant track record in turn-around situations across a wide range of industries and multinational corporations. He has experience of both the public and private sector including work for Aston University, Wolverhampton City Council, Amtrak Express Parcels, Wilson Connolly and the Caudwell group and his pragmatic attitude has resulted in an enviable reputation for getting the job done. His strong technical expertise in all areas of IT is aligned to outstanding people skills and a knack of establishing and improving communications channels between IT departments and other areas of the business.

• As Director of ICT - Infrastructure Development and Support Group, Ian H led Aston University to become the first educational institution in the UK with a live fully-converged digital network. Ian H programme managed this ground-breaking project and brought it in on-time and within budget.
• This project had a capital value in excess of £4M and replaced three existing services/systems.
• Ian H successfully programme managed the launch of an Electronic Top Up solution for Pre-Pay Mobile Phones from proof of concept stage to an operating company processing live transactions.
• He was part of two-man team sent in to reactivate a stalled implementation project in a FTSE 250 housing construction company.
• Built the infrastructure and team to implement a company wide business process re-engineering project to support the realignment of the UK business with modern requirements and replacing practices that were over 15 years old.
• Sent in to Amtrak Express Parcels by stake holders (3i and RBS) to successfully turn-around a failing IT department initially as Head of IT Operations and sub sequentially ICT Director with responsibility for all operational and strategic aspects. He was a member of senior management team that turned around the company from major loss making situation to a successfully re-financed and growing operation.
