Free Reports from Executives Online

Executives Online has published a number of research reports exploring topics of interest to our clients and candidates. These reports are available for free, below.

Business Exposure

One of the key reasons companies come to us is because a senior director has unexpectedly left the company, or their traditional recruitment method is failing and they urgently need to plug the gap. The aim of this report is to identify the level of exposure created in companies by these unexpected gaps or slow permanent recruitment. Drawing on 102 surveys among HR managers and line managers responsible for hiring executive roles, Executives Online has published this new research report.

We look at how common the problem is. We explore the roles which are the most vulnerable, and those which are toughest to fill. We consider the problems companies face when they can’t solve a senior recruitment problem, the damage that results, and the steps companies might take to minimise it.

The New Interim Report

Executives Online's publication The Interim Report explores the types of organisational change which often result in an interim manager being required, day rates and utilisation of interim managers themselves, and the diverse benefits clients derive from leveraging interims. Our latest report includes a new section focusing on business exposure: a sudden gap in an organisation's management team and the slow pace of permanent recruitment rank strongly among reasons clients engage an interim manager. The New Interim Report also includes sections on interim managers as agents of change, women in interim management, and interims as candidates for permanent executive roles.

The recruitment industry isn’t keeping pace with the needs of even the largest companies, says Executive Talent 2006, an in-depth study of 102 senior directors and HR managers. Despite over 80% of companies having established relationships with retained agencies, 60% struggle to find executives with the right experience. It quantifies that companies lose two full years of senior executive time per annum, because they can’t find people fast enough. Other topics include recruitment spend by category, toughest roles to fill, and specific challenges faced by smaller organisations.

Europe – Still Open for Business?

Is Europe open for business? This is the question that Atradius, a global risk management and financial solutions provider, asked an assembled roundtable of Europe watchers – business executives, analysts and commentators – all experts in their own field and well versed in the ways of European business. Norrie Johnston, Executive Chairman of Executives Online, joined the panel to represent and comment upon issues related to leadership resourcing and human capital. The group debated such issues as: Where should Europe go from here? What are the real problems we are struggling with? How do we compete with low-cost developing nations? Are there still opportunities to do business within Europe? And, most importantly, what can individual companies do to ensure they survive and thrive during this time of change? The themes and main topics of the debate are developed in this report, which we believe makes for insightful reading, analysing some of the challenges that Europe faces and identifying the opportunities for business that remain.
